YEGPodfest is presented by Edmonton Community Foundation, and is a collaboration between LitFest and the Alberta Podcast Network.
We respectfully acknowledge and are grateful to present this event from Treaty 6 territory, which is a storied meeting place and home to many Indigenous nations, including the Cree, Nakota-Sioux, Tsuu-T’ina, Blackfoot, and Métis as well as many others. We extend our hand in respect and friendship to these nations, and strive to honour the tradition of sharing stories on this land.
This project has been made possible through a grant under Edmonton Arts Council’s Connections & Exchanges Initiatives Program. Special thanks to Edmonton Community Foundation, our presenting sponsor.
This year’s inaugural festival is different than what we had envisioned when we applied for this grant back in 2019 — due to the pandemic, we’ve created the 2020 YEGPodfest entirely online. Even our staff meetings were on Zoom!
Our goal with YEGPodfest is to celebrate podcasts and storytellers of this medium from here in Edmonton and from afar. We hope to show audiences what’s out there, what Alberta’s podcasters are up to, and to provide great conversations and even a few learning opportunities for those working in podcasting, too.
Sit back, bust out your ear buds, and take in what the fest has to offer! And hopefully, in years to come, we’ll be able to gather and celebrate this medium with all of you in person.
Stay well out there,
From the YEGPodfest Crew
